Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Java Sea, off Borneo
On December 28, 2014, the Airbus A320-216 aircraft (registration PK-AXC), operated by Indonesia AirAsia, was involved in a fatal accident at Java Sea, off Borneo (Indonesia), leaving 162 dead. Source: Indonesia AirAsia.
What happened
A cracked solder joint kept triggering a flight-control system warning. In flight the captain silenced it the way he had seen it done on the ground, by pulling the circuit breaker, which disconnected the autopilot; the A320 rolled, pitched up sharply and stalled over the Java Sea. All 162 people on board died. It is the same high-altitude stall as AF447, five years on.
