Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Sendai Airport
On February 5, 2012, the Airbus A320-211 aircraft (registration JA8384), operated by Air Nippon, was involved in an accident at Sendai Airport (Japan) due to a tailstrike while rejecting the landing. Source: the JTSB (Japan).
What happened
Flight 731 from Osaka-Itami to Sendai, operated by Air Nippon jointly with All Nippon Airways, touched down on runway 27 at Sendai so softly that the captain, not sensing the main gear contact, decided to reject the landing; the nose pitched up sharply and the lower rear fuselage struck the runway. The aircraft then landed without further incident and none of the 166 people on board was injured. The JTSB found an abrasion about 3 m long on the rear fuselage and slight deformation of the rear pressure bulkhead, and rated the damage as substantial. It attributed the tailstrike to the strong pitch-up moment caused by the captain's nose-up input as he began the rejected landing from the full-aft sidestick position.

Memories coming soon

The register of memories is not open on this aircraft yet. We are enabling it gradually, record by record, as we consolidate each aircraft's information.

Before opening it we check the aircraft identity — its registration, its serial number and its model — against the civil register of the authority that registered it, so that every memory belongs to the exact aircraft that lived it. When that work reaches this record, the register will open here.
