Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Grounded by the airspace closure
On February 28, 2026, the A321-253NX aircraft (registration A9C-NF), operated by Gulf Air, was in the news. Source: Gulf Air.
What happened
In late February 2026, a sharp escalation of the war between Iran, Israel and the United States — with strikes on facilities inside Iranian territory and Iranian missile retaliation towards the Persian Gulf — led to the simultaneous closure of the airspace of at least eight countries on 28 February (Iran, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates). The main Gulf airlines suspended or diverted their flights for several days — about 24% of Middle East operations were cancelled that day — and the restrictions were not fully lifted in the Emirates until 3 May 2026.
